We’re all busy.
There’s always something to do.
How you plan your day matters.
Sometimes taking the shortcut and having someone book you on podcasts seems like a good idea.
It’s not.
Out of the hundreds of pitches I get a week to be on my Entrepreneur’s Enigma podcast, 95% of them get rejected.
Want to know why?
Because I’m being pitched by a PR or podcast outreach firm. Not by the person who I’m interviewing.
It’s not personalized enough. It feels half-assed and makes me feel like the guest really doesn’t care about being on my particular show, but rather is using a scattershot approach to just get on a show — any show.
Podcasting is a more personal medium that traditional radio and television. More often than not, you’re dealing with a small show with a loyal following, run by one person doing most of the show prep, interviewing, and post production.
If you want to make an impact, take an hour a day. Heck, a few hours a week and personalize your pitches to the podcasts you want to be on.
Listen to a few of the shows and talk to what you like about an episode or the show in general.
It takes time and energy. But if you want to be a guest and have a successful interview, take that time and do it right.
